With more than 30 years of riding experience and over 24 years dedicated to dressage, Laurie has had a lifelong passion for horses. As a child, she happily spent an hour on the bus just to ride and care for them—a commitment that reflects the dedication and work ethic she brings to her training program today. She believes that excellent horsemanship begins with exceptional care, ensuring every horse in her program is treated with kindness, respect, and thoughtful attention.

In addition to her equestrian career, Laurie earned degrees in Economics and German from Hood College. She has spent decades studying with many of the world's most respected dressage professionals, including more than 25 years training with Rachel Saavedra, serving as her assistant for over two years. Laurie has also participated in clinics with internationally renowned experts including Mary Wanless, Karen Rohlf, Arthur Kottas, Gerhard Politz, Conrad Schumacher, and Alfred Knopfhart.

As a competitor, Laurie has successfully ridden several horses through the Intermediaire I level and has coached riders to achieve success through I-1 competition. Her depth of experience, combined with her commitment to lifelong learning, allows her to help riders of all levels develop a harmonious partnership with their horses.

Teaching Philosophy

Laurie is passionate about helping horses and riders build confident, harmonious partnerships. She specializes in biomechanics, dressage theory, and teaching riders how their position and movement influence their horse's balance, comfort, and performance. Her instruction is rooted in correct fundamentals, riding from back to front, and the principles of the classical training pyramid. Whether you're just beginning your riding journey or competing in dressage, hunter/jumpers, eventing, or western disciplines, Laurie tailors each lesson to help you and your horse reach your goals together.
